ConSep ACACIA Reactor Commissioned at Golden Giant Mine

The first North American installation of a ConSep ACACIA Reactor went on-line last month at Newmont’s Golden Giant Mine. After only a single trial run the system permanently replaced the shaking table circuit to maximise gold recovery from the high-grade gravity concentrates produced from existing batch-type Knelson concentrators.
Golden Giant Metallurgist, Gerry Barstad, who performed the original lab-scale and pilot test work on the ACACIA unit, said, ‘We had a very high comfort level with the unit since we’ve done extensive testing with the ACACIA 50 pilot plant prior to ordering the unit. Results from the full-scale unit were very impressive from the start and were right inline with our expectations from the pilot programme. Our goal now is to optimise the unit and maximise our gravity recovery.’
The ACACIAS first week of production produced an average gold recovery of 99% from the mine’s Knelson Concentrators.
The ConSep ACACIA Reactor is a high-efficiency leaching system exclusively designed to handle the high-grade concentrates produced by Knelson Concentrators. The system is designed to maximise gold recovery from gravity concentrates and provide numerous process advantages over a conventional gold room.
