Tanzania's fourth-quarter gold output increased by 5.2% on the year, the country's central bank said Thursday.

In a report, the bank said that gold output from various mining companies in the country increased to 12,190 kilograms compared with 11,592.6 kgs a year earlier.

An official at Tanzania's Chamber of Minerals said gold ore grades at various gold mines in the country are improving as mining operations move deeper.
