The father of Fusion Art: Max Gold's art blends the worlds of high-tech art with traditional methods

Los Angeles-based artist Max Gold first introduced his bold "Fusion Art" concept I at the 2001 Artexpo New York. Through his dynamic merger of digital art and hand painting, he is known internationally as "The Father of Fusion Art."

His pioneering artistic signature has placed him at the vanguard of the burgeoning digital art revolution, with galleries nationwide exhibiting his work. Visually, Gold's vibrant and idiosyncratic style--distinguished by universal icons and vivid colors--evokes the best of the Pop Art tradition and 20th-century masters.
Gold's path to art world success has been filled with contradictions and challenges. Financial success in his teens and early 20s made life very different for him. He became involved in real estate transactions, and at 16, sold a property for $1.3 million. Gold experienced similar success selling his paintings. At 21, he had a sold-out, one-man show at a West L.A. gallery. But he tore up all of the checks following an alcohol--and drug-induced crisis, and less than two years later, became a homeless alcoholic.
